This past weekend we celebrated Father's Day. David made Matt a coffee mug and a picture frame, we got him a fog-free mirror for the shower and we all made him breakfast in bed (or went to Whole Foods and bought it and took it to him in bed). None of these gifts come close to showing the level of appreciation that Matt deserves in the father department. He is amazing with the kids and I am thankful every day to be married to such a wonder, caring and devoted man. From changing diapers and putting David to bed to coaching the baseball team - Matt is a wonderful husband and father.
For Father's Day, we told Matt he could do whatever he wanted. He wanted to go swimming, but could not do so because he scratched his cornea last week and had to wear a bandage lens while it healed... So he picked going to the horse races. In retrospect, maybe not the more kid appropriate activity (although the majority of people there did, in fact, have their children with them), but live and learn. We stayed for a while and let the kids see the horses and jockeys. After that, Matt and David went to Dave and Busters to play games while Henry took his afternoon nap. We finished up the evening with dinner at Mi Cocina.
