Happy Halloween

 I have been super busy at work lately (I know, I know - what is new?)... so Halloween sort of snuck up on me. On the morning of Halloween, Henry's school has an annual singing event. It is a mess with too many parents stuck in a room too small to hold said parents. I left for work before Henry got dressed, so I didn't really see his costume. I knew it was a Skelton, but that was about it. I got to the singing event a little late, so had not a great view.. but I found a little Skelton and started waiving and taking pictures. I stayed for two songs and then rushed back to work to make a meeting (PS- private schools - working parents find it hard to drive 20 minutes each way in the middle of the morning to watch their kid - and 60 others- sing one song for a total of 5 minutes).

When I got home, Henry was very upset with me because I didn't come to his singing event. I told him I did... I waived.. I took pictures. Turns out - that was not Henry! So below you will see pictures of some random child that is not mine.. but also dressed in Skelton costume. I include this story because it pretty much summarizes my year.

We had crappy wet weather for Halloween, which was a bit of a bummer, but we made the best of it! We had a short break in the rain that allowed us to take the boys out to trick-or-treat in the neighborhood. Because we were the only ones out in the cold rain... they got lots of candy!

Tennis, tennis, tennis

So.. David is obsessed with tennis. Really, truly obsessed!  He went to a camp at T-Bar (a local tennis club) this summer (which he begged to go to and I finally gave in around the end of the summer because it was crazy expensive  and.....despite it being 108 degrees outside the first week he went, he played all day the entire week and loved it). So, now we are members at said tennis club, he has a coach and is going 4 days a week to practice. It works great to have something he loves so much because he will get his homework done in no time and is amazingly happy to do chores in order to earn more tennis time. I am not sure if this is what good parenting looks like, but it is what we got...

Despite having half my genetic make-up, the kid is an amazing athlete. He has always been pretty good at most sports, but I have never seen him love something like tennis. He watched the entire US open, he knows all the players, he has all these friends at the tennis club and idolizes the coaches. I think I was sold mainly by his coach - Coach Lori. She is just awesome and really seems to get through to him in a way that we can't. He just got registered to play in tournaments, so more to come on his budding tennis career.

Henry loves Ollie... likes LOVES him. They play together constantly and it is so sweet.

Back to School

It is hard to believe, but Henry started Kindergarten this year. He was super excited to go back to school and so far.. LOVES it! 

And David started 3rd grade! He is seriously a giant - it is not just the pictures.  

Last weekend before we go back to school

We had one big fun weekend before the boys went back to school - swimming, Legoland, short ride of the super dangerous electric scooters that have shown up everywhere in Dallas (expecting they will be banned any day now based on this experience), trip to trampoline park, etc. Lots of good family time!
