Volunteer Day

The Kindergarten students volunteered to clean up graffiti this past weekend. It was such a great experience and the kids did a pretty darn good job. I am so happy that we choose to stay at St. James for Kindergarten. It is the perfect environment for David and we just love the community.  Here are some pics:

Welcome to the Watermans Ollie

I am not sure how it happened, but we have a new family member - Ollie Stitch Waterman. It all started when we went to OKC for Labor Day and saw how much the boys enjoyed playing with Webster, Uncle Luke and Aunt Cole's dog. David is getting increasingly more mature and can be quite convincing ...so we decided to start looking at hypoallergenic options. With his asthma and history of allergies, we didn't want to risk getting a dog that would cause problems. So, despite the fact I hate this concept, we went through breeders. Yes- I know. There are lots of dogs that need to be adopted and I hate the idea of "buying a dog"... but I wanted to know what I was getting and we wanted to start with a puppy so that he/she would be use to the boys. I reached out to a local breeder and once we met this guy, it was all over.. and now we have an infant puppy to potty train along with Henry.

Ollie is just adorable as can be and has the best personality. Super laid back and loves the boys. He is a Australian Labradoodle and will be about 40-45 lbs when grown. Henry has struggled to figure out the difference between a puppy and a stuffed animal (i.e. one does not care if you pick it up by the tail and the other does), but David has been great. He takes him out to potty and plays with him constantly.

Look at these eyes... how could you say no to this?

Random Pics found on Matt's phone

From vacation...

Labor Day in OKC

We had a nice visit with Matt's family in OKC this past Labor Day weekend. It started with David getting his cast off on Friday morning - which was more exciting for us than David. After a few weeks in the cast, he was scared about having it removed. In addition, his arm was sore and stiff, so it took some time getting adjusted to using it again. Of course, being young and active like David, it didn't take too long. He seems to be back to his normal two-arm self now.

We headed up to OKC early on Friday and got to visit with MiMar and Granddad. Then had dinner with the whole family. On Saturday, we went to the science museum and then spent some time with the Winkler family.  Matt, me and the kids took Hannah to see the memorial on Sunday morning, which is quite moving, and then Matt's family had a big cookout in the afternoon. It was a great visit. We were especially excited to see Matt's parents new house, which is very nice and cozy. Even better, Luke and Cole graciously hosted Hannah so everyone had a nice place to sleep.  We headed back early Monday and made some fun stops on the way home - first at the Arbuckle Wildness Safari (which is AWESOME) and then at Winstar for lunch (because Hannah had never seen a casino). The boys just went to the restaurant for lunch while Hannah and I snuck into the casino for a few minutes so that she could play a slot machine. We quickly lost $20 and left!!

And now the kids are back in school and we are patiently awaiting the fall weather...
