The Times They Are a-Changin....

There are a lot of things that I have not yet blogged about, so here is the late night short cut version of it. I accepted a position as the Vice President, Chief Legal Counsel - Corporate & Securities at Dean Foods Company in Dallas. I start on May 12th. I told my firm last week, but then had to be out of the office for previously scheduled vacation. To be honest, it was the first time I have taken vacation in ten years that I didn't feel guilty about it - I just enjoyed having the time with the kids (Hayley was out of town and Matt had work commitments). Apparently, the key is to take all vacation immediately after quitting.  I had a meeting with the head of my section on Saturday morning to discuss the decision and to ask me to reconsider. It brought me back down to reality and how hard it is going to be to leave .... more to come on that. And some of the pictures from the awesome two days I got with the kiddos.

During the time that all the interviews, meetings and decision making conversations that went into making the above decision happen coincided with Spring Break,  David getting sick immediately after our trip to CO, and then the crazy hospital stay a few weeks later.  In addition, we have had three T-ball games, Matt and David participated in an Amazing Race competition at SJES, we celebrated Easter with my family in Wortham and we had a visit from Granny D and Papa Bruce. Its been busy...  I'll do separate posts on the Easter festivities.

First, the hospital stay. I previously posted about David getting pneumonia the week after we got back from Spring Break. He was very sick for an entire week and was really having a hard time breathing. But he got lots of meds and got better after a week in bed and lots of breathing treatments. He was fine for a week, then got sick again. I took him into the pediatrician office's on a Thursday night to get him checked out (honestly thinking it was not a big deal). By the time we got in to see the doctor, his condition has rapidly deteriorated and he was not getting enough oxygen. The doctor called 911 to get emergency care to the hospital. It was quite a terrifying experience, although David was a super-patient. He asked every single EMT/paramedic whether he would was going to get a shot. He told them all that he needed to know what to expect. Leave it to David to be in control through all circumstances....  We ended up staying 5 days in Children's Hospital at Medical City. They discovered that the pneumonia came back, but that it triggered an asthmatic reaction - meaning his lungs had a lot of inflammation. We now know that he has asthma and how to control and treat. So hopefully, we won't have anymore of these scares.

Easter

9 Months

Henry had his 9 month check-up today. We combined his visit with David's post-hospital follow-up visit, which will get its own post in due time. Just wanted to update the blog with Henry's stats:

Weight: 17 lbs and 4.3 oz (10th percentile)
Length: 27 3/4 inches (25th percentile)
Head 18 1/2 (75th percentile)

Summary - Skinny with a big head. We will take that!

Tee-ball

David had his first T-ball game last night. It was actually his team's second game, but he missed the first one due to his pnemonia stint. We were so excited that he was feeling better and able to play last night. He had a lot of fun and his team is pretty good. They don't keep score although you can get "out" if the team can throw, not run, the ball to first base...which didn't happen during this game. Everyone gets to play and go up to bat and they play for an hour - which for this age group equals about 1 to 2 innings. Even though they don't keep score, our team kind of kicked butt. They were way better than the other team. I think it might be because they have such a great coach!!

Henry enjoyed the game as well. There are 4 sisters of players all between 6 and 8 that LOVED Henry. They made a circle and took turns telling him how cute he was- which he thought was pretty cool. It was a good thing they were there as well, because I got stuck at work and was late (just a few minutes) getting to the game. When I got there, he was just giggling at all the ladies fighting for his attention.  

 

He spent the rest of time eating grass- which he also thought was pretty cool.

 

Oh yeah - And this happen this morning. Parent of the Year!!
