Random David Pictures

We have lots of exciting plans coming up this weekend, including a visit from Granny D and Papa Bruce, Isabel's house warming party, and some Mommy vacation time to spend with David. Hopefully, I will have lots of new pictures to post, but until then... here are some recent random pictures of peanut:

First Fall

We had our first major David scare last Tuesday when David fell out of his high chair. The high chair that we bought has a defect in the locking mechanism for the tray and if it doesn't catch just right, the tray will slip off. So, as Isabel was going to get David's breakfast, he decided to push as hard as he could on the tray which resulted in him and the tray falling on the hard tile floor. As you can imagine, Isabel was in a complete panic (she is honestly the most vigilant out of all of us when it comes to David). When everything settled down, peanut was just fine and ended up only having a slight busted lip to show for his fall (well, that and a new high chair).

In other David development news, David now has his top two teeth. He is getting quite skilled at chomping food items using his front four teeth. Goldfish are a current favorite right now (of both David and Daddy).

We went today to meet with a designer to pick out colors and items for our new house that we may or may not be building depending on whether or not we can sell our current house. We have had a few showings of our house, but the market is pretty bad right now and so we aren't getting our hopes up. David decided to nap through most of the appointment.

You Don't Really Have to Learn How to Crawl Before You Walk

He is still refusing to crawl- at least in the traditional sense. He will scoot on his butt, he will bear crawl and occasionally, he does the army/belly drag version of crawling, but he has no interested doing the hands and knees things. He pulls up on everything and has started to walk if we hold his hands. So much for learning how to crawl before learning how to walk.

In other peanut news, David has learned the gesture for no. All of sudden, everytime he doesn't want something (food, toys, to be put down, etc.) he shakes his head no. It is sort of cute-- although I am betting that wears off pretty soon.

9 Month Checkup

I have been working like a crazy woman the past few weeks, so I am behind in blogging. I will catch up with pictures this weekend, but wanted to let everyone know that David had his 9-month check-up this past Tuesday. Matt was Mr. Mom and took him (he is such a great dad)! David weighed in at 22lbs (75%), 301/4 inches long (95%) and his head was 18 inches (60%). Overall the doctor said he was very healthy and happy!

Trip to Grandma Gil's

We got up early on Sunday morning and made a quick trip down to Corsicana to see Grandma Gil's (David's great grandmother) new house. It is just perfect - very cute place and next to an awesome park complete with batting cages and a water-spray park. Plus, she has three older ladies that live next to her. It is very golden girlish. I can't wait to go down to visit when David gets a little older. Plus, it is not a far drive- just about 45 minutes total- which works great in lieu of David's hatred for the car. He actually did a lot better this trip..maybe we are turning over a new leaf.

Grandma Gil fed us a great lunch and even sent us home with a care package. It was a great visit! I, of couse, forgot to bring my camera..so this is a picture from Matt's iphone.

Happy Birthday Granny D

We typically go up to Oklahoma City to celebrate the July 4th weekend. We usually take my niece with us, do fireworks at this great place outside of OKC where they still allow you to set off fireworks, eat great food and most importantly, celebrate Matt's mom's birthday (which is today-- Happy Birthday Granny D). It is always one of our favorite weekends. This year, however, I got stuck working (I know, pause for dramatic shock). Although I have spent most of the weekend working away, we did get in a early morning walk and trip to the park today.

Preemptive Uck!

David has decided that before he puts anything in his mouth, he makes a big sour face expression...just in case:
