Hapy Birthday Henry and One Year Check-Up

Henry turned one on Saturday and he had a blast celebrating with his family and friends. Granny D, Papa Bruce, Uncle Jake and Aunt Kim, Grandma Gil, Papa Lane and Nano, and Grandma Diane all came in from out of town (and, in Matt's family's case, out of state) to celebrate our little guy's special day. Although the day was a little crazy and we might not have gotten a chance to tell everyone, we are so thankful and blessed that our families were there and we so enjoyed visiting with them. In addition, our goods friends Carol and Travis and their girls and Kristen (who got the pleasure of hearing my family discuss immigration issues and jet ski accidents). And, of course, Hayley ...but, with Hayley, her presence goes without saying as she as she never misses anything for the boys... since birth, for both of them, she has always been there for whatever we and/or they needed and we are so thankful for her and how much she loves the boys. As for Henry, he LOVED the cupcake. LOVED may not be strong enough of a word. He devoured it.. the whole thing. It was quite an impressive showing.

After wrapping up a day long of celebration, we spent all day Sunday out and about, including getting ready for our big vacation. We leave for Mexico next Saturday and are so excited.

In addition, this morning, Henry went to his one year check-up. The great news - he has fully caught up on his measurements. He is now a little over 50% on his height at 30 inches long and has a big head coming in at 18.5 inches (75%). He is still skinny, - he currently weighs 18lbs 9oz (10the percentile). However, because he is increasing at a steady rate, Dr. Brown said that is perfect and likely just a result of his body type (which he pointed out, with today's obesity problems, there are much worse things than be tall and skinny). Considering how much he looks like a Smith, hopefully, Henry will take after my dad (at least in his younger days) and be super tall and thin and play some basketball?? He has impressively large feet. Now that he is walking, we took him to get shoes. They measured his feet and he already wears a size 5...

Pictures or it didn't happen, right? Well, here they are:

In David news - he started a new camp this week.. and wait for it, it is with the infamous William. That is right..they have been reunited for an entire week (with another one to follow after our vacation assuming they don't get into too much trouble together). God help those poor teachers!!  I already got a message from William's mom this morning that there was a huge celebration when William saw David.. you can hear the music in the backgroud- "reunited and it feels so good, reunited"...
