Oklahoma and Bridal Showers

We took off work on Friday and traveled (via plane because my kids hate the car..and in particular, Matt and I know that our marriage and sanity is not strong enough to survive 4 hours of Henry screaming in his car seat) to Oklahoma City this past weekend to visit the family and attend Luke's and Cole's wedding shower. We left early on Friday and spent the day at MiMar and Granddads. I am so happy that my kids get to spend time and know Matt's grandparents - they are truly amazing people and they were so influential in Matt's life. It is so special to see them develop a relationship with our kids. David really looks forward to the visits and getting his goodie bag from MiMar. On Saturday, the boys (Matt and his dad and brothers that is) went golfing while my boys went with Mimar, Granny D, Aunt Kim and myself to Cole's shower. It was a lot of fun and so nice to meet Cole's super sweet family and friends. Saturday night, after a great family dinner at Charleston's, the adult kids - Luke and Cole, Jake and Kim and Matt and myself went out for drinks and fun times at Dave and Busters while D'Ann watched the kiddos. In an attempt to squeeze as much into the weekend as possible, Matt actually took the kids out to Big Jake's before meeting us at D&B. It was a lot of fun and good to hang out with everyone. On Sunday, we met for brunch and celebrated Shelley's birthday. More importantly, we got to meet Shelly's boyfriend, Ryan, who seemed great. Not to rush things, but maybe we will have another wedding to look forward to soon. Since all of Matt's and my friends are married (and have been for a few years), it was fun to attend the shower and hear about wedding things. I love weddings -- for some reason, with weddings and me, all logic goes out the window and I am just a hopeless romantic. And yes - hard to believe, but I cry at weddings. Not just cry - I sob. Even weddings for people that probably should not get married and those for people I don't even know, such as those on tv. Hell, I probably would have cried at the Kardashian wedding if I would have seen it and I can't imagine anything less romantic. Who knows? I digress.. Overall, we had a great weekend and really enjoyed seeing everyone. After staying a few nights at the hotel, we also very much enjoyed getting back to our lovely house and comfortable bed. Everyone slept very well last night!
