Christmas, New Year and 2018

Christmas break was just amazing. The boys enjoyed Christmas morning at our house and Henry was thoroughly impressed with Santa's delivery. We then got to spend time with Hayley, and Granny D came down to watch the boys for Matt and I to go out of town for New Years. Here are the pictures - at least the ones I took.

Christmas Eve - My family came up to visit, have lunch and watch the Cowboys game. It was super fun. So much fun that I have no pictures!!

Christmas Eve tradition of watching Bad Santa while assembling toys. Look how happy Matt looks....

The look of surprise... (or how you look with a mouth full of candy that you immediately grabbed out of your stocking...)

Lunch and a Christmas movie - we watched Wonder. It was great, but one should not cry that much on Christmas

Just a random picture of our Christmas cards from the last few years.. I think we look much better each year that the kids sleep more.

Christmas night - so we don't have a lot of traditions, so we asked the boys what they might want to do for Christmas night so that we could start a tradition. The consensus - hibachi.. so I made reservations at Benihana. It was a disaster. The place was packed and clearly understaffed (which I totally get must be hard on a holiday like Christmas). We waited for a long time for our table and then were sat with some "interesting" folks (some people may use words like loud, obnoxious and trashy..but not me).  We were still trying to make the best of it .. hour later when our chef finally showed up and Henry had to suddenly go to the restroom. So Matt took him. I didn't see what happened next, but about two minutes after leaving the table Matt comes running back in, holding Henry, covered in blood and screaming for me to help. I can not overstate how bad Matt with injured children. The story goes something like this - Henry was walking up to the men's urinal in a dirty bathroom that no one had cleaned all day, slipped on Christmas pee that was all over the floor and feel face first into the urinal - busting open his lip and chipping his tooth. He was quickly fine (minus the chipped tooth) and all is well... but this will not be our holiday tradition. We are taking submissions for ideas for next year.

Before the busted lip

After the busted lip -

For Matt's Christmas present (and New Years, anniversary and Birthday), we went out to LA for the Rose Bowl over New Years Eve. Honestly, it was one of the best trips ever. Granny D was nice enough to come down to watch the boys. We headed out a day before NYE and got to do lots of sightseeing, went to a super fancy dinner for New Years Eve, went to the Rose Parade super early on New Year's Day, hung out in sports bars before the game and then got to watch one of the most exciting college footballs ever in literally one of the coolest football stadiums with the most amazing weather. OU lost (and that sucked for Matt) but other than that ... perfect trip.

Granny D arrives and David is in heaven!

On the balcony of our hotel room - it was a pretty view of LA in the background, but you can't see because of the fog.

I took this because the table across from us literally spent the entire dinner on their phones - no human interaction at all. It was New Year's Eve and the fixed menu at this place was not cheap...
Rose Parade

We brought David and Henry some movie related gifts from LA. David wrote a script and directed a movie. It was super cute...

In between Christmas and New Years, Hayley came to visit and brought us all matching PJ's.We really enjoyed the time with her and took the kids to some fun outings - inducing Jump Street and a Spa day!

Last weekend, I went on a girl's trip to Vegas with some of the St. Mark's moms. Coming off the weekend in LA, I felt a little guilty leaving the kids.. but it was a blast! I love this mom group (we were even referred to as "cool moms" by one very young fellow blackjack player).
