So.. lots to update. Hannah, our new au pair from Brazil, started on August 3rd. She came just in time to shadow Hayley for a short period before Hayley left us!! Hayley officially moved back to San Antonio on August 14th. And then we left for vacation the next day (which was also the day I got back from being in California for a week for board meetings). To add to the madness, we returned from vacation on Saturday night, hosted a part for Henry's class on Sunday and the boys started school on Monday. Crazy times!
Back to vacation - we had such a good time. We went back to the same resort we stayed at last year. Hannah joined us this year and it ended up being a great opportunity for her to bond with the boys (while also giving Matt and I some time to ourselves).
On the way to the airport:
Waiting for the flight
Henry's first time in his own seat:
We were greeted by Nick characters when we arrived at the resort:
Tired from the travels (I wish I could sleep this sound):
Awww.. so relaxing
Every night the resort has a kid's show and then a regular show. This was the first night's dance party with the characters from Nickelodeon
Matt got called up on stage for the magic show:
Playing at the kid's waterpark
Lunch on the beach
Iguana at the pizza restaurant - eating dropped pepperoni..
Later that night, we were walking to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. We saw a rather large iguana outside the restaurant and stopped to look at it. Henry was in front of me and Hannah and holding an apple. He dropped a piece of the apple and the damn thing went for it. I thought he was going for Henry and literally screamed loud enough the entire resort stopped to look at us. Those things are fast. We spent the rest of the weekend getting Henry to listen by telling him an iguana was behind him!!
Sandcastles at the beach
Games in the teen club (where we spent a lot of time because David was obsessed with the pool table and video game systems)
One night the show consisted of opera like singers.. which was pretty funny...
We went to pet the dolphins and spend a day at Wet-N-Wild
Family treasure hunt... we didn't win, but it was fun.
The resort had a night where the kids got to release baby turtles into the sea ..
Lobster.. nothing more to say!!
We went on a snorkel trip.. because David really thought he could do it. Turns out, little hard to hold on to the ring and enjoy snorkeling. We did about 10-15 mins, then spent the rest of the time on the boat.
David bummed that he could not snorkel...
Attempt at family photo:
more lobster
monkey see, monkey do
And we are back home...
