Big Imagination

I am typically so busy that I don't spend enough time documenting all of the amusing things the kids do and say. So, before I blink and another five years has passed, I wanted to make sure and write down all of the details of Irgovone - the planet that David lived on before coming to earth. As anyone that knows him can attest, David has a huge personality and big imagination. He has created this entire universe, known as Irgovone, where he lived for thousands of years before finding a time portal that allowed him (and Henry) to travel to Earth. On Irgovone, everyone lives forever and he is the oldest person there, thus making him the leader. He is even older than his parents - a fact he explains by saying that there is no time (although he hasn't addressed how he is the oldest without time). This weekend, we were driving to a birthday party and David annouces - "On Irgovone, they do not have tornadoes. They do, however, have clouds that descend on the towns and drop jewerly (you know, like rings and necklaces) onto the ground - like rain. But, it is not rain, it is really a bomb that explodes when you touch it." When I said that this sounded scary, he further explained that the explosion does not hurt you and no one on Irgovone dies - it just makes a lot of noise. At this point, we drove by David's Bridal and I hear David say -"D-A-V-I-D, what the holy heck? That is my name"...

He also still has Crockpecker - his imaginary friend/pet that lives in his room in a little house Granny D made for him. Lately, Crockpecker has been giving David a hard time. David was telling me that he is having a hard time getting Crockpecker to make good choices and he has been quite frustrated with him for hitting him. He said that Crockpecker refuses to pick up his toys (not sure what toys an imaginary pet has...) and that he has been being mean to David... David informed me that he was very disappointed in his behavior.

Here are a few pics from our recent adventures... I include the picture of the decorated house becuase Matt and I did it all by ourselves (which took about 5 hours and almost resulted in both divorce and injury). I was determined, however, that we were going to put lights on our house for Christmas.  To complete this little project, I made 6 (yes, that is right six) trips to Home Depot throughout the day, purchased 3 different kinds of staple guns and two different sets of lights!

Here is the pic from last week at the Christmas parade.... the kid's loved the parade.. Santa, well, Henry was unsure and David is skeptical. On that note, David has also decided that Elf on the Shelf is not real. At least not ours. He said that Emory (a girl from his class) has a real elf on the shelf - with a heart and blood - which means that hers is magic. Since our elf (Chip) does not have blood, veins or a heartbeat, then he is not real.. and David touched him, and he is not magic. That was pretty much the conversation that ended elf on the shelf (which is, to be honest, perfectly fine with me. I don't have the time or patience to get up and hide that damn thing every night anyway)....

David has his chess tournament this past weekend. He won the game and promptly annouced to the coach when we were leaving the party that he was the best chess player in the class... no lack of confidence:

Henry learned how to climb up the slide at Pump it Up. We were there for the 6th or 7th Birthday party hosted at Pump-it-Up in the past month (very popular place all of a sudden). I think after watching all the fun, Henry was determined to participate.

David was so tired after a very busy weekend:

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a productive and relaxing Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving day, we spent time with the boys, had lunch at Dixie House, went to the park and put up the Christmas tree. It was a pretty great day. On Friday, we headed to Teague to visit my family. We had so much fun and David loved playing with his cousins. I managed, however, to take NO pictures - which is such a shame because we rarely get my entire family in one place at one time. Shawna and Brandin did a great job hosting and we were so thankful for the great time.

The rest of the weekend was just spent together enjoying the amazing weather. I had to leave Sunday afternoon to go to California for a meeting and Matt was busy getting ready for a min-trial or hearing today...so we are quickly back in the work groove and looking forward to Christmas.

Here are the random photos from my phone....

We found him doing this... seriously? That is the warmer drawer - which has now been disabled.

Oh wait - Matt took a few pictures of the kids at Brandin's house.

More of Henry being a wild man!!

Henry's First Haircut

Henry got his very first haircut this past weekend. Although his crazy hair was super cute, he was starting to look a little homily (and his hair a little like a mullet). It is crazy how different he looks with boy hair!! He was a trooper for the whole process, including when the lady used trimmers. He just chilled out - quite a different experience from the traumatic reaction David had through not only his first haircut, but for about the first 10 or so!

Other weekend fun - a visit to Chuck E Cheese and lots of time outdoors enjoying the amazing weather.

Christmas Jammies

Can you see the resemblance?

5 years and 15 months

We had the kids annual check-ups with Dr. Brown this past week. Everyone is doing great! David is, thankfully, done with shots for a while...so he engaged in some schadenfreuden-ish behavior while watching Henry get his vacanations. Here are the boys stats:

David:
Weight - 44 lbs 8oz (70%)
Height - 3'9" (85%)

Henry:
Weight - 20lb 15oz (15%)
Height - 31" (25%)
Head - 19.25 (90%)

Clearly, combined, we have one average child.

Happy Birthday Matt

Matt's birthday was on November 20th. We went to Vegas the weekend before, which was partly in celebration of his birthday, so his actual  birthday was pretty low-key. He had to work late, so David, Henry and I made him a steak dinner at home and brought home a cake from Whole Foods. We were planning on baking him a cake, but David saw the one pictured below and just had to buy it (of course, entirely for Daddy...). I planned to get Matt the new iphone for his birthday, but with work, then going out of town..I sort of waited until the last minute and didn't realize they were sold out everywhere still. After taking two boys to 4 stores looking for a phone, we decided to order it via mail... So..Matt got an iphone to be delivered in 3-7 days! And some awesome handmade cards from the Boys!

Baseball Party and Vegas

The last few weeks have been super busy. David had his end of fall season tee ball party on November 13th - which also happened to be the week that my company released earnings, filed quarterly report and held board meetings. On the Thursday, as soon as board meetings wrapped up, Matt and I headed off to Vegas for a long weekend get-away. Special thanks to Hayley and Granny D for watching the boys so we could get in some couple time. We had so much fun!!
