Logic and the lawyers' kid
I am working late closing a deal and just got this e-mail from Matt with a direct quote from David at bedtime:

Look who played soccer this week
After a little hesitation, David decided to give soccer a try and had a great time:
Matt and I had to go to a charity dinner on Saturday night and found little man still wide awake when we got home. David helped me enjoy the pinkberry that I had stopped to get on the way home....

When Daddy is Away
Matt had to go to Houston last night for a trial today (we are hoping he does great - it is a big one that he is handling by himself!!)... Being that I am a push-over when it comes to David, he talked me into sleeping in our bed last night. Here he is enjoying daddy's spot:

Soccer - Not So Much; Baseball - Absolutely
Now that David is a little older and come out of this shell a little (i.e. not so shy), we thought it was time to get him back signed up for weekend activities. So, Saturday was day one of soccer. To be fair, David told us that he had no intention of playing soccer. We started prepping him the night before and then again on Saturday morning and he consistently told us that he didn't want to go to soccer class. He even asked what the coaches name was and then told us that he "didn't think he would like Coach Kirby". We told him that he didn't have to participate and that we just wanted to go check it out - thinking he would see how much fun it was and end up joining in. Well, that did not happen. He went in and shook hands with Coach Kirby and promptly informed him that he was going to "watch from the bench" and he did...for the entire 45 minute class. He was perfect - just sat on the bench and occasionally described what the kids were doing. He laughed when the coach kicked the ball in the area and cheered when one of the kids made a goal. We occasionally asked him if he wanted to join them and-- either because he legitimately did not want to play or he is just too hard-headed to let his position go - he stuck to his guns and watched. When class was over, he went and got a stamp from the coach, gave him a high five and said he was ready to go have lunch. We had to give him credit for standing his ground. We paid for the season, so we will see how next week goes!!
Here is David's soccer class:
And here is David on the bench:
After the soccer game, we went to have lunch and asked David what else he might like to do- music class, baseball, gymnastics.... He told us that he wanted to try baseball. So, we went to Walmart and got him a T-ball bat, glove, balls, etc. and found a Sunday baseball class to sign up for. He was all about practicing baseball. He went out in the back and hit balls with Matt and then wanted to go again later in the evening. On Sunday, first thing he asked about was going to his baseball class. Maybe he just has something against soccer- who know, he is definitely a unique kiddo.
Here is him practicing with Matt:
The T-ball class that we signed up for did not have enough kids register...so it got cancelled. Bummer. But we did spend a lot of time at the park practicing hitting and David even recruited other kids to play with him. It was pretty much all he wanted to do the rest of the weekend. The group that puts the classes together is supposed to get back to me with other options for classes...so maybe that will work out.

Date Night
Every year Matt and I attend a charity event sponsored by one of the firm clients that I do a lot of my work for that is always a ton of fun with good entertainment (last year was Kenny Loggins and this year Foreigner). Typically, we spend a ton of money because they have an amazing silent auction and serve you lots and lots of booze. This year was a little less expensive thanks to the sound reasoning that comes with being the sober pregnant chick.
Here is us about to head out (so that when I look back and this and wonder how pregnant I am- 25 weeks):
David got to hang out with Isabel during the evening and it sounds like he too had a good time. The night, however, took an unexpected turn of events when Matt and I came home to find Emma - our very old dog that I have had since college - sick. She had some bowel movement issues and, after being cleaned up, some major swelling of that region that seemed to be causing her a lot of pain. Matt had taken advantage of having a designated driver, so I got to drive her up to the vet at 1am. She ended up spending the night (which was good because they had to drain stuff from her bottom and treat the swelling - and they were able to give her pain meds) and is now back at home and doing well - other than being on some meds for a week or so.
Sunday was a super busy day - we attended Lila's 4th birthday party at the Nature and Science Museum and then hung out at the downtown park for a while. It was a gorgeous day - the kind you have to take advantage of before the Texas summer reminds what hot really means. On the bright side, we are looking forward to the heat so that we can use our new pool...shouldn't be more than a few weeks.
And here is how I found David over the weekend playing in his room. Thankfully I got the sturdy toy bins.....

Easter with the Family and Spring Happenings
The day before Easter, we went to Corsicana to celebrate Easter with my family. It was such a fun visit and so great to see everyone (it had been way to long). The kids had an Easter egg hunt in the park and David really enjoyed his cousin time!! He also enjoyed hanging out with Papa Lane - who now has him obsessed with golf (by the way Dad- kid has a crazy good memory, so he is expecting you to be building him some sort of golf club!! He has asked me about it almost everyday..)
My birthday fell on Good Friday this year, so after having a great day with my little man (our office was closed)- we all went out to dinner at PF Changs. David was way more excited about the birthday cake than anyone at the table...and he thought he was going to get to eat the whole thing.
This past weekend (April 6-7)- Dallas had the best weather ever. It was just beautiful and despite all the work that I am behind on - we decided to just spend as much time enjoying the outdoors as we could. The last few months, our weekends have been spent at work (in my case) or dealing with packing, moving and remodeling. It was nice to just take a break and have fun with the kiddo. On Sat. we went to breakfast, then to the zoo, then took a nap, went out for a nice dinner and went to Celebration Station to ride race cars and play putt-putt golf. Seriously great day. On Sunday, we also went to breakfast and then spent some time at JumpStreet- which is the best place for young kiddos to burn off steam. We had to fit in some errands...but it was still an overall great weekend.
The zoo was celebrating its 185th birthday this past weekend and we happen to be there when they were handing out cupcakes. David liked his...a lot...
David being an olive finger monster at dinner (he puts them on his fingers and then eats them off)
On Friday, David insisted on wearing this shirt to dinner- it is about two sizes too small. He looked like a retired old grandpa handing out in Florida.
At the zoo..

Visit from Granny D and Papa Bruce
A few weekends back, Papa Bruce and Granny D came down to see the new house. It was a great visit and David really enjoyed spending time with them - so much so, in fact, he was ready to pack his bag and head back with them when they tried to leave. We didn't do a very good job of getting pictures, but here is Granny D trying to leave:
