Family Weekend

Brandin, Shawna and their kiddos came down to visit this past weekend. We had a big day on Saturday- On Saturday morning, we went to the Dallas World Aquarium, then we went lunch downtown, came home and let a few kids took a nap, then we headed out to bowling, followed by Chuck-e-cheese and ended the evening with a viewing of Shrek 3 at our house. Great great day! On Sunday, Shawna, Paytin, Kenzie, David and I all headed out to take part in some back to school shopping. It was hot and exhausting, but Paytin is well-equipped to start kindergarten. She should be the best dressed 5 year old there. Matt, Brandin and Colton worked on cleaning out the garage (I am pretty sure for them it was hotter and even more exhausting). Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Right as I went to snap this picture, a bird next to the kids decided to attack the window.

PlayYard - Not a Fan

Now that we have a fully mobile Peanut, we thought it might be a good idea to try out the play yard that we had in the garage from the days of babysitting my niece and nephew. Based on David's reaction, I am not sure if he is a fan:

This picture is just for Granny D. I thought it was so cute that Isabel and David "dressed" up Peanut's patty cake bear with the hand and feet rattles that David has long outgrown!

Finally -- it is crawing time.

We thought Peanut would never crawl, but he decided to surprise us last week and take off crawling like a champ. This kid went from turning circles and scooting on his butt in a small limited space in the living room to crawling everywhere. It is like we gave him some baby caffeine and set him loose to explore and he has seen it all (on a side note, poor Emma- she is not thrilled with the recently acquired crawling skills). I finally found my video camera battery charger, so here are some videos of a crawling peanut. Notice the unique side leg action going on in Peanut's version of crawling.

David found his favorite touch and feel book:

A Great Few Days

I have really enjoyed my "vacation" time the last few days catching up with old friends and hanging out with David. On Friday, David and I had lunch with an old friend and her little boy (who is a year older than David). She is expecting a little girl later this year and it was so great to see her and catch up. I really feel for her being pregnant in this ridiculous heat way that we are having here in Dallas (104 today). We then rushed home to meet Papa Bruce and Granny D who came down from OKC to visit the peanut. We had such a great visit with one exception-peanut refused the entire weekend to perform his "how big is David" trick. I will explain- for weeks we have been saying "how big is David?" and, in response, he raises his arms above his head,we say sooo big and then everyone claps. We were, of course, so excited to have him show off this newly acquired skill off as it is super cute. For some reason, peanut went on a "how big is David" strike this weekend. He didn't completely disappoint however - he showed off lots of other tricks (patty cake, clapping, waving, etc.) and was overall a great kid the whole weekend.

On Saturday, we went bowling to escape the heat:

On Sunday, we went to Isabel's home dedication and it was just amazing. We got to meet her family and friends, had some really amazing food, and were so honored to be part of the blessing of her home. And, as we suspected, everyone had heard lots about David and were more than happy to shower him with compliments and attention - which he just loved.

We wrapped today with a play date with Jenna and Will (who have previously made an appearance on the blog- Jenna and I use to work together and Will is 2 weeks older than David). The boys didn't really play "together", but they definitely played in the same proximity and occasionally interacted with each other. It was really cute. I am hoping that David picked up some crawling/walking tips from Will. Will is quite the impressive 10 month old little guy- he is already walking! I was so wrapped up in catching up with Jenna and playing with the boys that I forgot to get out the camera. So, no pictures this time..but I am sure there will be more play dates in the future.

Finally, Isabel's grandson, Junior, has been down the last few weeks to spend some time with his Grandma. He and David became good buds. David thought it was so great to have a "kiddo" around and Junior played non-stop with David. David is really going to miss him:
