Fun Times with Granny D

Isabel is taking some much deserved vacation time this week, so we were lucky enough to have Matt's mother (Granny D) come down for the week to watch Peanut. From what we are told, David has been great for his Granny D (although I have a suspicion she might not tell us if he were not) and they have had lots of fun and great bonding time. We are so very grateful to have her here and will be sad to see her go back home!

Here are some pictures that she took the last few days. Notice the great picture of David's two teeth.

8 Months

It is hard to believe, but Peanut is 8 months old today. It is amazing how fast the time has gone by. David has come a long way in 8 months - he is starting to stand up, although he refuses to crawl (hard headed kid - we have no clue where that comes from), he drags himself on his belly and makes an awkward attempt to maneuver around by crawling backwards (I hear his daddy was a master of the belly drag), he grabs everything and is super inquisitive, he is now capable of feeding himself Cheerios with a higher than 50% hand to mouth success rate and he is babbling away. He is also in to everything. A new favorite pass time is pulling everything out from under one of our kitchen cabinets. We put all the plastic glasses and tubaware in one cabinet, set him up and let him go. Here are some recent pictures:

As most of you know, we have put our house on the market. We had lots of little odds and ends to do in order to get it "show" ready and David helped with each and every task. Here are some pictures of peanut helping daddy fix the front door:

Aunt Hayley also came over to have a date night with peanut so we could go out on Saturday night for a few hours. We hear that they had lots of fun and so did we!

Maybe a sign?

For those of you that follow the blog, we started the baby sign program a few weeks ago. For now, we really just do the signs for milk, cereal, all done, dog and book (we thought that was plenty to start with and, to be completely honest, that is as far as mommy and daddy got in the video). So...I was randomly video taping peanut tonight as he continues working on the feeding himself thing and I am pretty sure he did the sign for cereal. We show it to him every time we give him cereal, but this is the first time he tried to mimic it. The sign for cereal is touching your thumb and index fingers together (similar to pinching). It could just be a coincidence, but maybe a sign? What do you guys think?
